When a person leads a healthy lifestyle, the body remains healthy and the mind is active and fresh. Many chronic diseases are caused by key risk behavior. By making healthy choices, you can reduce your likelihood of getting chronic disease and improve your quality of life.

To mark the Healthy eating campaign, the Health, Social Welfare & Women’s Activities and Youth & Sports committees invited the Members of the jamat to an interactive session by Dr. Shehla Ebrahim, a physician who is practicing family medicine in Canada for the last 25 years. The jamat gathered in the social hall of the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Centre where Dr. Shehla joined through web conference.

Before the session started, the jamat got light refreshments to begin with. Later Dr. Shehla presented through her virtual presentation which was easier for the jamat to understand the meaning of focusing on healthy eating habits without compromising taste and making healthy food choices to reduce the burden of chronic diseases later in life. It was a brief session on which she explained which foods are healthy for better life and what to avoid.

The session ended with some questions which the doctor replied. Afterwards Dinner of healthy choices boxes were given to the jamat
