International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activities are witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality

So how could Social Welfare and Women’s Activity Committee forget to celebrate women’s day? To celebrate the international women’s day, SWWAC invited all the ladies from age 16 and above on 9th March 2023 at the IJKC Social Hall.

The Social Welfare committee had created a chain campaign to celebrate women’s day each year. The first program (2020) of women’s day had a motto of “Find out your passions”, and then the covid time came but yet the celebration did not stop. In 2021 two Women entrepreneurs came to motivate our Jamati catering group. Then in 2022 there was an online session for the Jamat with the motto “Yes We Can”.

This year's motto was ‘Commitment to Ourselves”. A program was organised with various activities and entertainment for the ladies to have a fun filled evening for them to relax and leave all the household and other office works to celebrate themselves. In the beginning of the program, there was a motivational reminder by a committee member followed by a short presentation on women empowerment. Later two of the owned successful business jamati women were brought on stage to talk about their journey from scratch to this achievement.

There was an act performance on how women have achieved so many accomplishments for many years and in today’s run from housewife to being a cricketer, from business women to a pilot and walking the same steps as men. A song was sung by a very beautiful voice of our Jamati women. Certificates were presented to ladies who had participated in the sewing class which helped them to learn a skill and to build something of their own. A women empowering dance was presented by teenagers. The celebration ended by yoga exercises which most of the ladies joined and dinner box.  Ladies went home with a fresh reminder of their will power and loads of motivation to build something of their own.
