This staging of the classic “The Sound of Music” promises to surprise the audience with an original reading of the film, while maintaining the spirit and, of course, ensuring all the emotion that the film carries in itself.
For director Pedro Ribeiro, "this is a version of a staged concert that will be surprising for those who know only the film, in the sense that they have never seen the story in such a clear and free of artifice way, but, at the same time, it will there are obviously details that people recognize... We can't escape the emotional references of the audience". The unexpected relevance of this story - of a family of displaced people fleeing a war that is coming - brought an increased sensitivity, admits the director. (in www.e-cultura.pt/)
And it's really true! Despite the original being from 1965, this story perfectly portrays the current context of countless families, who are fleeing war while trying to keep the family together and the flame of hope alive.
Sofia Escobar and Jorge Corrula, Virgílio Castelo and Manuela Couto are the main characters in the cast of this fantastic musical.
