Ismaili Festivals: Stories of Celebration

On Thursday 10 February, The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) and ITREB UK will host the launch of Ismaili Festivals: Stories of Celebration, the first book in the new IIS' Living Ismaili Traditions series. The event will be streamed live on The Ismaili TV at 8:00 PM (UK time).

Featuring author Dr Shiraz Kabani and host Nina Hirji Kheraj in conversation at the Ismaili Centre, London, the event will recall the stories of festivals and celebrations that inspired the book, and will be accompanied by live musical performances.

Copies of the book are available to order via Tariqah Boards.

The Living Ismaili Traditions series synthesises the IIS’s academic scholarship and presents it in ways that are relevant, accessible, and engaging for the broader Jamati readership.

In Ismaili Festivals, Dr Kabani provides a first-hand account of festivals celebrated across our diverse, global Jamat. The book takes in festivals observed across the Ummah, such as Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr, those commemorated by the Shia, such as Eid al-Ghadir, and others like the Salgirah of the Imam-of-the-Time, celebrated by Ismailis.

Combining lively storytelling and personal anecdotes, Dr Kabani takes us on a journey of celebration and self-reflection. To learn more about the book, visit the IIS website.
