Summer has arrived and requires extra care. We all know that the sun and hot temperatures together with typical late-afternoon snacks are a pleasant temptation. It feels good to come out of an unstable spring and feel the joy of long, sunny days.
However, we are all aware of the negative effects of some pleasurable exaggerations such as dehydration and physical exhaustion caused by excess heat.
So what is the balance between pleasant and healthy? Medical control, nutrition, personal hygiene and special skin care, sun exposure time, adequate clothing, moderate physical activity and rest.
If, on one hand, medical control is important so that the medication is eventually adjusted to the most recent results of the diagnostic tests, on the other hand it is the health professional, which follows us, who will explain to us what our SOS Summer Kit. This will help us to react properly to symptoms of dehydration, excessive rise in body temperature, heat stroke, gastric imbalances or other situations. That is why medical advice before the holidays is essential.
It is up to us to protect the proper functioning of our internal organs as well as those organs that are more exposed to the sun and heat. Therefore, the diet should privilege the ingestion of more water, greens, vegetables and fruits (for example: peas, beans, among others). Moisturizing and protecting the skin requires shelter and cool places during peak heat hours. Personal hygiene requires more care due to sweating and perspiration. Clothing should be light and light in colour. The practice of physical exercise must be moderate and rest hours must be respected to avoid greater physical strain.
We must remember that it is also our mission to help the body adapt to the summer.
