Seva or volunteering, is a core ethos within the Ismaili tariqa, and TKN allows murids to use their skills and knowledge for the benefit of our institutions and all the individuals we serve, through the gift of time. Following on from International Women’s Day, the TKN committee would like to recognise the phenomenal contribution made to our institutions by the female members of our Jamat.
In 2020, over 60% of TKN placements for institutions within the UK jurisdiction were women. One of these is Zahira Virani, an adult social care duty worker by profession from Reading Jamatkhana who is currently in the midst of her one-year TKN assignment with the Aga Khan Social Welfare Board to support improved care outcomes for Jamati members.
In the next few months are institutions are looking to deliver projects that need people with expertise in health and social care.
If you have skills in counselling, wellbeing, mental health or social support please update your skills on the TKN database or get in touch at [email protected]
