Government extends the public transport timeframe for Luanda

The Ministry of Transports announced the extension of the hours of movement of public transport and calls for the need to continue to apply the safety and social distance measures.

The following new timetables and passenger capacity for public transport in Luanda are established:

a) Public and private urban and interurban passenger transport is allowed from 05:00 to 20:00;
b) Regarding the capacity, it maintains the same, up to 50%;

This new permit runs until 23:59 on August 9th.

This new amendment changes the observed limits where the movement of passenger vehicles was fixed 5:00 to 18:00.

In the next few days, the Ministry of Transport will strengthen the public transportation capacity of Luanda with more buses.

The Ministry of Transport in Coordination with the Government of the Province of Luanda calls on the public and private transport operators to guarantee the working hours and availability in the transport capacity, respecting the strict reinforcement of biosafety rules.

This new adjustment has the institutional support of the Government of the Province of Luanda, within the scope of its local competences regarding urban mobility.

In the meantime, the Ministry of Transport, as a member of the Multisectoral Commission for Prevention of COVID-19, will continue to monitor the situation in conjunction with the various Ministerial Departments, in particular the National Health Authority, seeking to keep all stakeholders informed of future developments, in particular those in the road transport subsector.
