After 12 weeks the ECD@home is on summer break. But that does not mean that it will stop – just giving students what they need: a well-deserved summer break after an intensive and very challenging school year.

For these 12 weeks, we would like to thank the assiduous involvement of our parents, excellent educators, our children and our project Manager Farah Mulji with her continuous support, in the analysis and providing the contents and activities, doing the necessary research for our 2 age groups, developing the cognitive and learning skills.

Now it’s time for fun.

After the daily routine of the last 12 weeks, it is time for the famous summer break, and during this break, the ECD@home team provided a virtual library for all parents and children, so they can access the activities and topics covered in the 1st cycle, as well as other softer activities for the holidays for our children if  they to carry out and develop their skills through drawing, painting, songs and other playful activities.

The program will return in September and is counting with the same enthusiasm and active participation of all the children of the Angola Jamat from 1 to 5 years old.

“Early child nurture promotes learning ability, mental and physical health and responsible social behavior, which extend over a lifetime.” says Dr Almina Pardhan, an Assistant Professor at the Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development in Karachi.

Mowlana Hazar Imam spoke about the importance of early childhood development at the 25th Anniversary of the Madrasa Early Childhood Development Programme in Kenya in 2007:

“A deep concern for Knowledge - and the best ways of sharing Knowledge - goes back to the very roots of the Islamic tradition. When we think of our proud educational traditions, however, we often think first about the great Universities and Libraries which became centers of Islamic culture down through the centuries - including in our time the Aga Khan University which now has teaching centers in eight different countries. But we sometimes give too little attention to the schools which prepare young children for life itself - in all of its holistic dimensions. And yet the evidence accumulates steadily showing that an investment made in the earliest, pre-school years can bring enormous dividends as a child proceeds from one level of education to another”.

The Education Board for Angola recognized each of the students and parents who were actively involved in the project, making a total of 47 young leaders; they were given a certificate of their participation during this 1st cycle of ECD@home as a token of appreciation of their hard work and commitment.

In this article, we share some of the memories of these 12 weeks along with the students presenting their certificate.
