The celebration took place on the same day of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s arrival in Kampala, Uganda. Jamats rejoiced in anticipation and excitement, together playing the traditional rasura and participating in the “One Jamat” dance. Each Jamat celebrated in their respective Jamatkhanas, which included upcountry Jamati members. This event is the first of several celebratory events taking place this week, including a devotional night, Sagridham dinner, and a Jubilee Concert.
“There is exhilaration amongst the Jamat this week and we are very happy to celebrate it through our traditions together,” said President of the National Council for Tanzania, Amin Lakhani. “This is only the start of a memorable and blessed week.”
The visit of Mawlana Hazar Imam to Dar es Salaam is expected to take place on October 11 and 12, as part of a larger celebration for Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Diamond Jubilee year as the 49th hereditary Imam of the world’s Shia Ismaili Muslims.
