The ISTAR 2019 Discover Summit will focus on four key pillars:

Discovering Ourselves

“Education must reinforce the foundations of identity in such a way as to reinvigorate and strengthen them so that they can withstand the shock of change.”

To develop leaders of the future, it is important to understand one’s past and develop a foundation in one’s identity. It is only after individual identities are strong, that leaders can be confident to engage in the societies in which they live. The conference will enable students to develop a strong foundation in their Ismaili identity and celebrate diverse cultural identities, so they are able to:

• Articulate the foundation of their faith with others

• Be ambassadors of the faith and uphold their myriad identities

Embracing a Guiding Framework

“Education that prepares children for life must go beyond fundamental skills to stimulate creativity, intellectual curiosity and honest inquiry.”

The conference will focus on the guidance of Mawlana Hazar Imam throughout the past 61 years and will expose students to the timeless traditions and values of the Shia Ismaili Islam ethics. The goal of this pillar is for students to:

• Use the principles of their faith to develop a mission for their lives

• Develop a sense of passion to seek further knowledge about their faith

Mapping your Journey

“The true test is the ability of students and graduates to engage with what they do not know and to work out a solution…..The ability to make judgements that are grounded in solid information and employ careful analysis, should be one of the most important goals for any educational endeavor”

The impact that future leaders can make will no longer be linked to geography. Students need to be exposed to emerging global trends to help build the right skill set to generate meaningful impact. The conference will invite speakers to expose students to cutting edge topics that are disrupting the new economy. Through brain pod sessions, students will learn to:

• Think big and aim high!

• Develop a sense of social perceptiveness to think about how to generate meaningful impact

• Develop a personalized road map for the next 10 years of your life that will help you achieve your vision and dreams

Maintaining Balance and Well-Being

“More information at our fingertips can mean more knowledge and understanding. But it can also mean more fleeting attention-spans, more impulsive judgements and more dependence on superficial snapshots of events……Greater “connectivity” does not necessarily mean greater “connection”.”

The conference will conduct workshops and deliver resources on the importance of maintaining a strong physical and mental well-being. Students will be better equipped to:

• Develop active listening skills

• Unwind and cope with stressful situations throughout the course of their education

Afin de former les leaders du futur, il est important de comprendre son propre passé et de s'enraciner dans sa propre identité. Ce n'est qu'une fois que les identités individuelles sont fortes que les leaders peuvent avoir la confiance nécessaire afin de s’impliquer dans les sociétés dans lesquelles ils vivent. La conférence permettra aux étudiants de développer une fondation solide dans leur identité ismaïlienne tout en célébrant leurs diverses identités culturelles, ce qui leur permettra ensuite:

• D’articuler le fondement de leur foi avec les autres ;
• D’être des ambassadeurs de la foi tout en maintenant leurs identités innombrables

La conférence mettra l'accent sur les conseils de Mawlana Hazir Imam au cours des 61 dernières années et exposera les étudiants aux traditions et aux valeurs continuelles de l'éthique islamique chiite ismaélienne. L'objectif de ce pilier est de permettre aux étudiants :

• D’utiliser les principes de leur foi pour développer une mission pour leur vie;
• De développer un sentiment de passion afin chercher à mieux connaître leur foi.

L’impact que les futurs leaders de ce monde peuvent avoir ne sera plus lié à la géographie. Les étudiants doivent être exposés aux tendances mondiales émergentes afin d'acquérir les compétences appropriées pour générer un impact significatif sur le monde. La conférence invitera les conférenciers à exposer les étudiants aux sujets d’actualités qui perturbent la nouvelle économie. Au cours des séances de réflexion, les étudiants apprendront à:

• Penser grand et viser haut!
• Développer un sens de la perspicacité sociale pour réfléchir d’une façon qui peut générer un impact significatif ;
• Élaborer un cheminement personnalisé pour les 10 prochaines années de leur vie qui les aidera à réaliser leur vision et leurs rêves.
