Gouvieux, France, 10 July 2017 — On the eve of the historic occasion of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Diamond Jubilee, Ismailis around the world are preparing for a special day of commemoration and celebration, as senior Jamati leaders who have served over the past six decades arrive in France.
The Tanzania Jamat celebrates Diamond Jubilee with an inaugural parade, carnival and ceremony graced by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa.
The heritage building at 330 Sussex Drive that now houses the Centre was built over a century ago. It once held the archives of the Dominion of Canada, and later served as the Canadian War Museum. The building has been beautifully restored to its new purpose as the home of the Global Centre for Pluralism.
When it opens in 2018, the spectacular new Aga Khan Garden, Alberta will feature “stepped terraces that change with the seasons, geometric water features that stream into wetlands and a spectacular orchard of local plants.”
Mawlana Hazar Imam delivered a historic address to the Parliament of Canada on February 27, 2014. This extended video includes Hazar Imam and his family arriving at Parliament Hill, his meeting with the Prime Minister and the signing of the protocol agreement between the Ismaili Imamat and Canada.

In the remote mountain community of Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic, Mawlana Hazar Imam’s 20-year vision of a world class, international calibre university designed to be a catalyst for social and economic development in Central Asia’s underserved mountain regions was realized on October 19, 2016.
In a speech on October 5, 2016 at the Brussels Conference on Afghanistan, hosted by the European Union and the government of Afghanistan, Mawlana Hazar Imam remarked: “Since 2001, AKDN and its partners have channelled over $1 billion to enhance self-reliance and improve the quality of life of Afghans.”
