High stakes examinations have long since been a subject of concern for parents, students and the education fraternity globally. Owing to the huge pressure it carries, in India, it has often been referred to as a matter of life and death. And yet, it is still not over even if one does cross the bridge, then again there is the uphill task of appearing for the never-ending entrances in one’s chosen field. In a country that accounts for almost a fifth of the world’s population, entrance tests are often deemed tests of elimination rather than qualification.
And yet, these are not the only challenges faced by young achievers of our community, who have done us proud in more ways than one. Let’s take a look; Beginning with the Secondary and Higher secondary examinations in Gujarat, Alina Fumakiya from Sidhpur and Aryan Chandwani have both scored 98.86% and an average score of 97% in their board examinations respectively. Aryan has already gotten admission into MBBS. When asked about their challenges, Alina discussed health issues while Aryan’s parents were concerned about sending their son away on his own at such a young age for excellence in education in spite of facing dire financial conditions. And yet, both these achievers still have the goal to do better at each stage in the future.

Monis Chunara and Samira Rajani scored 98.86% and 99.79% in their HSC examinations with Monis standing 2nd in Valsad district and 1st in Vapi. Samira shares that, given home responsibilities and an ailing mother it was difficult to think about going outside of her village to study in an English medium school and yet, she dreams of finishing her CA examinations with just as good a score, maybe even better. Monis on the other hand, faced severe lack of financial support, till one day, as a blessing from the Almighty, a teacher decided to teach him without any charge. Monis is currently pursuing Electronics and Communications Engineering and keeps up the struggle hoping for an even brighter future.

And if this was not enough, Aman Popatiya and Aman Charania’s achievement in entrances like NEET and JEE truly makes one salute the sheer effort and hard work put in by all these achievers, with Aman ranking 86th in the National level entrance exam. He is currently studying in KEM hospital and Seth GS medical college Mumbai.
