In April 2017, the National Council Communications team organized a three-day AKDN site visit to Delhi. The visit was first of its kind, attended by a mix of participants.
Apart from being the political capital of India, New Delhi is known for its rich cultural heritage and historical diversity. The city is home to centuries-old monuments that have their roots in history.
“We visited the Humayun's tomb where we got to know about the restoration work. The efforts were clearly reflected when we saw the before and after images of all the restored sites shown to us. The designs, the detailing and most importantly originality along with innovation was breathtaking. One thing was clearly evident-we shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us.”-said a Participant.
Apart from the visits, the CEO of AKTC, Mr Ratish Nanda met with the participants and shared his experience of working with His Highness and the AKDN institutions. There were discussions about Mawlana Hazar Imam's vision behind these massive restoration projects. The participants were astounded by the foresight that our Imam has in restoring areas of historical importance and the emphasis he lays on cultural expression. They considered themselves extremely fortunate for being able to have this interaction.
Such an experience should not be missed. It adds not only to our knowledge, but also helps us understand our role in actualizing the Imam's vision.
