Recognising and celebrating pluralism in action, this year’s award ceremony takes place on 14 November in Ottawa, Canada. Princess Zahra, a Board Member of the Global Centre for Pluralism, and Meredith Preston McGhie, Secretary General of the Centre, will deliver remarks at the ceremony.
Presented every two years, the Global Pluralism Award celebrates the inspiring and brave work helping to build more inclusive societies where diversity is valued and protected. Following a rigorous review process, an independent, international jury of experts selected this year’s three winners and seven honourable mention recipients from among 200 submissions across 60 countries.
The Award is a programme of the Global Centre for Pluralism, an independent, charitable organisation founded by Mawlana Hazar Imam and the Government of Canada.
“The creativity, courage and commitment shown by this year’s finalists is so important at this moment,” said Meredith Preston McGhie, Secretary General of the Global Centre for Pluralism. “At a time of increasing polarization globally, it is critical to magnify the impacts of pluralism leaders who are creating more inclusive and peaceful societies where diversity is valued. I hope these examples spur us all to follow their example and take action.”
This occasion will mark the fourth conferral of the Global Pluralism Award since its inception in 2017.
