The Aga Khan Garden, Alberta, was inaugurated on Tuesday 16 October 2018 in the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam. The Garden joins a network of parks and gardens that have been established around the world through the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC).
On 2 October, the Aga Khan Palace in Pune was lit up in all its glory, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth. Shining like a beacon above Pune’s Nagar Road, the brightly lit Palace represents a fitting metaphor for Gandhi’s role as a guiding light in India’s campaign for independence.

Karen Armstrong delivered the Global Centre for Pluralism’s 2018 Annual Pluralism Lecture at the Aga Khan Centre on 4 October, in the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam, Princess Zahra, former Governor General of Canada Adrienne Clarkson, and Secretary General of the Global Centre for Pluralism John McNee.
Approximately 2,000 volunteers joined forces across Canada to participate in the second annual Ismaili CIVIC Day over the weekend of September 22-23, 2018.

Mawlana Hazar Imam will visit Canada in October 2018 at the invitation of leading civil society institutions. During this time, Hazar Imam will attend a special ceremony for the inauguration of the Aga Khan Garden, Alberta, to be presided over by the Honourable Rachel Notley, Premier of Alberta. He will also be awarded honorary degrees by three Canadian Universities for his achievements, and contributions to humanity.
Nestled amongst landscaped walkways, pavement cafés, and a crop of new buildings, the Aga Khan Centre provides a purpose-built space for contemplation, collaboration, and contribution to knowledge and scholarship.
Mawlana Hazar Imam was presented with France’s highest honour, La Grand-croix de la Légion d’honneur (The Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour), in recognition of his contributions to humanity, and to improving the quality of life in some of the most vulnerable regions and communities around the world.
18 September 2018 - Paris, France: President Emmanuel Macron today received Mawlana Hazar Imam at the Élysée Palace in Paris - the official office and residence of the President of France. A guard of honour by the Republican Guard was on display, as Hazar Imam was welcomed by the French President.
On the occasion of the centenary of the end of the First World War, the Ismaili Council for France represented the France jurisdiction Jamat at a ceremony to mark the memory of soldiers of South Asian origin, who lost their lives a century ago. Guests at the event came together to focus on unity and cohesion between all peoples.
