Born in a “cradle of friendship,” the Ismaili Centre, Toronto was opened by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper in the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam on 12 September 2014.
The Aga Khan Museum shall be “a gateway into the history and artistic traditions of the Muslim world,” announced Prince Amyn, “at a time when such a gateway is profoundly needed.” As Vice-Chair of the museum’s Board of Directors, he was addressing the audience gathered to witness the opening ceremony of the Toronto museum — the first such institution in North America dedicated to the Islamic arts.
Over 5000 parcels of food and provisions were packed at UK Jamatkhanas on Saturday, 5 June to help some of the most vulnerable populations in London, Birmingham and Leicester. Local charities will distribute the packages under Share a Smile, an Ismaili community initiative to help those in need during the month of Ramadan.

Mawlana Hazar Imam is one of two recipients of the 2013 North-South Prize of the Council of Europe. The prize was awarded by the President of Portugal in a ceremony held at the Portuguese Parliament on Thursday, 12 June 2014.
The Aga Khan Park will be inaugurated by the Honourable Kathleen Wynne, Premier of Ontario in the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam on Monday, 25 May.
