During the month of Ramadan, the Aga Khan Scouts and Guides Group (AKSG) volunteered at the Iftar Distributions in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to make a difference and give back to the community. The distributions were organised by Classic Catering, Shree Gangour Sweets and Restaurant and Ramadan Aman. With the support from the named partners, AKSG was able to distribute over 4,300 Iftar boxes.

Jaiyana Zishan, an AKSG member, expressed her gratefulness on being part of the Iftar Distribution: "Being a part of the Iftar distribution certainly warmed my heart in many ways, as this genuine and charitable act not only made me feel life-affirming, but it also taught me to build on the notion of humanity, generosity and gratitude. Moreover, it taught me to always look out and care for the ones who are deprived of certain needs or for those who may not be as blessed as we are. Without a doubt, I am certain that this kind act touched many hearts (of those) like it touched mine! I am forever grateful, proud to be a volunteer and to be a part of AKSG."

Jaiyana’s words reflect an important aspect of our belief system: giving back to the less fortunate in the community. Let’s remind ourselves to continue touching hearts, not just in the month of Ramadan, but everyday, with acts of kindness.

“No act of kindness is too small. The gift of kindness may start as a small ripple that over time can turn into a tidal wave, affecting the lives of many.” - Kevin Heath
