Footballers played their first set of round-robin matches at Moi International Sports Centre. Competing in the coliseum-sized stadium, Canada and Pakistan started off an exciting football tournament. While both teams exhibited exceptional sportsmanship, Canada A took a solid lead following an impressive offensive effort. Special notice, however, at today's first match was the Pakistani goalie whose outstanding talent kept the game alive.

The second game between the United States and Portugal took on an exciting intensity due to strong play by both sides. Throughout the first half, Portugal pushed its offense catalysing a strong defence by the Americans. Both teams kept each other in check calling for a final 0-0 goal score. The remaining football teams kick off tomorrow in the second day of round-robin matches.
