Dr Saifuddin Hemat has been fighting on the frontlines of the Covid-19 crisis as the health information system head at the Aga Khan Health Service in Afghanistan.

During these difficult times, kindness and generosity continue to bring warmth, light, and hope to our Jamat and humanity at large. This musical tribute, featuring members of the Jamat from 20 countries, is a small token of appreciation to all volunteers and health workers who are serving in ways seen and unseen, known and unknown.

Dr Sawsan Awad grew up in Damascus and Salamiyah, studied medicine at Damascus University, and worked in several educational hospitals in Syria. Now, as a consultant microbiologist and infection control doctor in the United Kingdom, Dr Sawsan Awad has been working on the frontlines of the pandemic since it began.

Agencies of the AKDN are pulling together to find creative and effective solutions to sustain the important work to improve the quality of human life.

Across the globe, Jamati and AKDN institutions are at the forefront of responding to the Covid-19 pandemic, providing urgent humanitarian assistance, slowing the virus’s spread, caring for the infected, and addressing the broader consequences of the current crisis.
