With our shared planet at the heart of its thinking, the new Earthshot prize is centred around five simple yet ambitious goals to repair the natural environment.

The most prestigious global environment prize in history is being launched today by Prince William with the Aga Khan Development Network as a Founding Partner. The Earthshot Prize aims to encourage large-scale change over the next 10 years — a critical decade for the Earth.

This year’s theme for World Habitat Day, Housing for All: A Better Urban Future, is an opportunity to reflect on the state of housing in our towns, cities, and communities, exploring how we can build stronger, more resilient settlements.

Based in Manchester, United Kingdom, Alykhan Alyan Kassam alongside his clinical and academic commitments, joined the virtual frontline, working as a clinical contact caseworker for the National Health Service (NHS) and Public Health England. As part of this additional commitment, he undertakes public health risk assessments of people who have tested positive for Covid-19, conducts contact tracing and provides public health advice including advice on self-isolating to the affected.

In celebration of World Teachers’ Day, The Ismaili presents a new short film featuring Bait-ul Ilm teachers and students in the UK jurisdiction Jamat, discussing the value of Religious Education and the recent adaptation to online classes.

AKAH's Rural Habitat Development Programme scaled up between 2015 and 2020 to include 12 villages near Chitravad.

As India rapidly urbanizes, pockets of rural Gujarat continue to remain home to smaller communities of the Jamat. Anchored to their land and with strong ties to their community, they often live in areas that are seismically active. Since 2012, the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat’s Rural Habitat Development Programme, has focused on working with these communities to improve the resilience and safety of their built environment. In transforming their living spaces from houses to homes, the programme has helped improve residents’ quality of life.

The Ismaili is pleased to present an original composition entitled Nur by Conchord, a musical trio based in the United States. The lyrics contain themes of Divine Light and the grace of God, and the song features an English translation of ayat an-Nur from the Qur’an.

Safia Nazarali developed a passion for women's health and global health through volunteerism and engaging in humanitarian projects both within and outside of the Ismaili community.
