As one entered the Jubilee hall, one could not help but notice countless volunteers beaming with energy, showing Jamati members how to use the pocket-sized booklet, the Jubilee Passport. It contained pages of to-do activities, enabling the Jamat to reflect upon the Imam’s sixty years of Imamat.
Attendees were given the booklet and were asked to jot down everything they saw and experienced during the day. The "My Journey to Homage" area, with panels displaying some of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s work over the 60 years of his Imamat, were designed to promote reflection and understanding of his contributions to humanity.
To a mother-daughter duo from Sacramento Jamat, an exhibit gave them a deeper understanding of the Imam’s commitment to his murids and the Imam’s contributions to their own lives, as well as raising their awareness and understanding of the Imam’s concern for the Jamat living in areas of insecurity.
The next area ahead had two screens: the first identifying the country where members had their first experience with their Imam; the second screen was to type in their feelings for the occasion. “It’s interesting to see how Pakistan and India have the most dots,” a lady noted. She added, “and how simply seeing the words on the second screen makes me feel excited, proud, and emotional all in one. These moments deserve to have a place in this passport!”
Every exhibition the "My Journey to Homage" was moving and touched many hearts. One of the many exhibits presented a handwritten letter by Hazar Imam to the Jamat on the Time and Knowledge Nazrana, commenting on the spirit of volunteerism in the Jamat...The letter motivated many murids as they thought about their own volunteer efforts and realizing that the Imam appreciated their dedication.
The completion of a Jubilee Passport booklet was not just ink on paper; the Jamat was left with insights, Jubilee promises, and a memorable record of activities in which they participated. At the end of the Jubilee day, the Jamat had gained meaningful knowledge and a deeper understanding of our traditions, the Imam’s love for the Jamat, and the magnificent Homage ceremony, where we offered him our gratitude and allegiance once again.
This powerful booklet will serve as a repository of Hazar Imam’s Diamond Jubilee memories for all of us.
