Spearheaded by Dr. Ida Denia, clinical psychologist, the presentation focused on depression, uniquely faced by women and their roles in the working world, family responsibilities, social circles and society, personal self-esteem and self-worth. The 60-minute intense workshop emphasized the differences between normal challenges, and feelings of helplessness versus the reality of clinical diagnosis of depression, the stigma attached to mental challenges, the domino effect of stress and anxiety, and coping mechanisms.
Conducted in Portuguese, interpreted to gujarati by Zeinub Hidu, the points were well understood by all the ladies present. Participants received an exotic rose, whilst the doctor received a beautiful arrangement of assorted flowers, in order to commemorate Women’s day.
