In a historic celebration, the Ismaili community in Angola gathered at Stylus Eventos for the National Arts & Sports Festival, a prelude to the anticipated Global Encounters Festival in 2025. The event witnessed approximately 65 spirited Jamati members showcasing their diverse talents and skills, marking a significant moment in the community's history gathering on a single platform with unparalleled enthusiasm.
The festival, a fusion of arts and games, not only brought together Ismaili community members from various corners of Angola but also became a testament to the unity, diversity, and abundant talent within the community. Approximately 450 Jamati members attended the event, turning it into a joyous gathering where friendships were forged, and cultural exchanges flourished.
The evening unfolded with an array of captivating performances. The Angolan Native Dance by under-18 children set the stage, embodying the rich cultural heritage of Angola. Adding to the cultural tapestry, local students from GEMS school took centre stage, showcasing a dance that resonated with the spirit of the community.
Ladies over 18 graced the festival with a mesmerizing performance, blending the beauty of diversity with rhythmic yoga. Their dance not only captivated the audience but also underscored the community's commitment to embracing different forms of artistic expression.
The festival highlighted the competitive spirit and team camaraderie through the introduction of various sports teams. Football, chess, pickleball, swimming – each team brought their unique energy, fostering a sense of unity and healthy competition.
As the event drew to a close, attendees transitioned to a communal dinner.
