Talking, storytelling or massaging the belly helps the fetus to develop and strengthens the bond between mother and baby.

The Education Board, together with the Women's Activities and Health Portfolios, would like to share the importance of stimulation in pregnancy. Here are some tips:

• Petting and caressing the mother's belly makes the baby feel and react to the parents' touch.
• Storytelling helps the baby to recognize the voices of parents, siblings and close relatives to the mother and facilitates the language development process.
• Listening to soft music has a relaxing effect on the baby. From the 25th week of pregnancy, the baby's ear has sufficiently developed to be able to hear voices outside the belly and is able to recognize stimuli such as music.
• Exercising in water and being in water is one of the ways to relax during pregnancy as it also helps to relieve the pressure of the extra weight on the body.
• Exposure to sunlight for 20 minutes a day helps your baby develop stronger bones, prevents heart problems, helps the body produce vitamin D and can prevent the onset of autism.
