Neurobics: brain gymnastics

Do you usually forget where you put your house keys, where you park your car or where you leave an important work document? Neurobics can help keep your brain alive.

On May 20th, in My Golden Time programme, Sandra Barradas hosted a session with neurobic exercises.

Based on neuroscience research, neurobics (aerobics for neurons) offers a variety of exercises that prevent memory loss and increase mental awareness, through various combinations of the five senses (sight, smell, touch, hearing and taste), as well as the emotional and social "senses".

Basically, neurobics stimulates the creation of new and different patterns of activity of neurons in the brain, by using the "senses" in different ways than usual. Therefore, this process will allow the brain to create its natural nutrients, that is, to feed itself.

In this way, it becomes possible to counter negative beliefs about aging and enhance positive beliefs such as "older and wiser". It all depends on how you take care of your mental health.

The authors of this discovery, Lawrence Katz and Manning Rubin, propose, in their work "Keep Your Brain Alive: 83 Neurobic Exercises", exercises that can be incorporated into daily activities without much effort. You can see the exercises and the full article on this link.
