Two very special persons, Farana Sadrudin and Mariana Jadaugy, left us on 28 March last, during the Holy month of Ramadan, while carrying out a work reserved for those whose goal and motivation is to try to help others.
Farana Sadrudin was a member of the Portuguese Council, representing Spain. For 9 years she lived between Madrid and Lisbon, and it was during this time that she forged very close relationships with the members of the Spanish Jamat. Farana was very approachable and empathetic, and she understood the needs and specificities of each one, carrying out her work with dedication and determination, and at the same time engaging on a personal level. This resulted in a new impetus with regard to institutional relations between the jamats of Spain and Portugal. Some jamats in Spain re-emerged and the connection between the Ismailis living in Spain and their sense of identity and belonging to a Spanish and Global jamat (One Jamat) increased notably. This was achieved not only through Farana's implementation of use of social network tools, but also by adding her human touch, which accompanied everything she did. Many members of the jamat of Spain have had a personal experience with her, which made a difference in a specific moment in time.
Farana had great eagerness to travel, to work, to learn, to advance and to accomplish her plans immediately, without delay, squeezing every minute out of the day -now we all understand why. Her loss has left us all, as reflected in the many expressions of affection received, "without a great friend”, “without a sister”, “without our angel”, “without a great woman”, “without a treasure" and also, "without words".
Let us pick up the baton that Farana has passed on to us to continue the journey towards the goal -InshAllah, guided always by Mawlana Hazir Imam's vision for his jamats- with the same love, enthusiasm, optimism, commitment, loyalty and, above all, with the spirit of service that she possessed.
Rest in peace. We will never forget you.
