The Aga Khan Health Board (AKHB) is a Central Institution of the National Council whose main objective is to develop and implement strategies to raise the standards of the physical and mental health andwell-being of the Community. These strategies include:
- Conceptualization of programs that promote health education, in order to promote literacy, prevention and/or monitoring of diseases and the acquisition of lifestyle habits that are beneficial for physical and mental health;
- Medical counseling and referral to health care providers, with special emphasis on the quality of life of low-resource or vulnerable families within the Community;
- Dissemination of information about access to the National Health Service (SNS), Health Plans and Insurances, as well as the Protocols established between the National Council and accredited health institutions.
The AKHB also ensures prevention on festive days and funerals, with members and sub-members with certified training in First Aid and Psychological First Aid.
