Let's start with António Farto, aka Vhils, a Portuguese and internationally renowned artist who brings to MAAT a monumental installation, entirely on video, which reflects the daily life of 9 metropolises - Mexico City, Cincinnati, Hong Kong, Lisbon, Los Angeles, Macau, Paris, Beijing and Shanghai. For what purpose? Experience different “Prisms” of cities so culturally different, with habits and ways of living so different from ours. But are they really that different?
The exhibition will be on display at MAAT from March 30th to September 5th, 2022.
This exhibition takes place in parallel with the collective exhibition “Interferências”. “The cultural diversity that characterizes the city of Lisbon does not soften the many stories of a segmented and antagonistic metropolis. “Interferências” is an exhibition that affirms different expressions of urban culture, exploring narrative itineraries of the city through a dialogue that privileges the museum as a critical space, a meeting place between various communities and sensitivities”. The second proposal, also in Lisbon, takes place at the Church of S. Roque, in Chiado. From the March 31st to the April 3rd, you can see an unmissable show in which the director Ricardo Barceló recreates and reinterprets 21 works by Caravaggio.
Five talented actors who, through physical and facial expression, poses and costumes, bring Caravaggio's paintings to life, alternating between delicate and studied movements.
These artists are joined by a precious musical selection and a play of lights that will bring even more drama and beauty to the show. Find all the details about the sessions and tickets here.
