My name is Israte Normahomed. I was born in Mozambique. I lived in Portugal from the age of two to twenty-three. I came to Barcelona to work, after I was an Erasmus student at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and ... I am still here.
I studied Food Engineering at the University of Algarve. I feel very fortunate to have been able to work, both in the private and public sectors, in the discipline I studied, for more than ten years.
I currently work in the Office for the Environment of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where I carry out different tasks, from waste management to website development. For me it is important to take pleasure in what I do, make sure I continuously learn and do my part.
One of my personality traits is that I like almost everything, as long as I can learn and contribute. I love everything that has to do with personal relationships, with social projects, research, innovation and current affairs, but this does not mean that I discard what experience and the past brings.
In recent years, I have learned to spend time not only with others but also with myself, something that I continually used to put off. Getting to know oneself is an extremely valuable experience, an unexplored path of continuous learning that allows us to grow.
With regard to the very difficult situation that we are living these days, I believe that getting to know ourselves and helping those who need it, will allow us individually to prevail.
