Have you heard about Islamic art? Would you like to explore how art and architecture can reveal the mysteries of our past, clarify the present and sculpt the future?
If you are curious about any of these questions or have an interest in religious symbolism, we invite you to take part in a short course in Lisbon offered by the Institute of Ismaili Studies on Religious Symbolism in Art and Architecture. The course will run from 9 to 13 September 2023.
This five-day course will include study visits and lectures at the Ismaili Centre, Lisbon.
Participants will discover how faith has been intertwined with creative expressions presented through symbolism in art and architecture. The course will also explore the various traditions of Shi'i symbolism, focusing on the complexities of this artistic expression.
This is the first short course offered in Lisbon by the IIS, so we hope that Jamat members will take advantage of this opportunity.
Secure your place on the course now by visiting the Institute of Ismaili Studies website and selecting "Short Course" in the "Study" field, or alternatively, you can enrol by sending an email to IIS - [email protected].
Please note that there are preferential conditions for participants who do not require accommodation.
The registration deadline is 20 August 2023.
