Ya Ali Madad,
The month of July is a very special time for us Muslims as we celebrate Imamat Day. It is the recognition of the Imam of the Time. Imamat Day is an occasion to reaffirm this principle, express gratitude to Mawlana Hazar Imam, and to reaffirm our spiritual allegiance to the Imam and our commitment to the ethics of the faith.
Another special day celebrated this July is Eid-al-Adha. Eid al-Adha, Arabic for Festival of the Sacrifice, is the latter of the two official holidays celebrated within Islam, the other being Eid al-Fitr. It honours the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of obedience to God's command.
Before Ibrahim could sacrifice his son, however, Allah provided a lamb to sacrifice instead. In commemoration of this intervention, animals are sacrificed ritually. One third of their meat is consumed by the family offering the sacrifice, while the rest is distributed to the poor and needy. Sweets and gifts are given, and extended family are typically visited and welcomed.
In the Islamic lunar calendar, Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, and lasts for four days. In the international (Gregorian) calendar, the dates vary from year to year, shifting approximately 11 days earlier each year.
Let us be grateful for the guidance and love of our beloved Mawlana Hazar Imam and the celebration of our faith.
As vaccination is going accordingly to the health authorities plan, we should keep following the government measures to avoid the spread of infections and keep ourselves, family and everyone safe.
