I started horseback riding when I was 10 years old, with a Swedish lady called Inger Halberg. She was known for her demanding and almost military way of teaching, but I loved it; it was she who taught me the discipline and responsibility that has guided me throughout my life.
Every day after school and homework, my mother would take me to go riding with Inger. At the age of 11, Inger encouraged me to start competing in local small competitions and participating in activities at Pony Clubs with other children my age. Shortly after, I got my first horse, "Farruco", with him I competed in dressage and show jumping, winning my first Malaga provincial championship. All this broadened my horizons and goals, at just the age of 12, with excellent results and a great desire to learn and evolve.
After seeing a young rider competing at national level, I decided that I would like to learn from him and to focus on national competition and to dedicate myself to the discipline of dressage. That rider, who was my first proper trainer, was José Daniel Martin Dockx, who has represented Spain twice at the Olympic Games!
Daniel was as demanding and ambitious a coach as I was as a rider. He encouraged me to compete for the first time in the Spanish Championship in Madrid, where I won the bronze medal! This put Daniel, myself and of course Farruco on the national circuit. From then on, my slogan was: "our goal is perfection, winning is an extra prize!"
I continued competing at national level and at age 13 I joined a team that Isidro Maldonado trained. After taking my "old" partner "Farruco" out of the competition, my new mount "Luxor" also gave me much joy and medals, this time at an international level, always with the support of my teacher Isidro.
I represented Britain for 4 years where I was part of the Dressage team.
A few years later I lost my "Luxor" and due to countless circumstances, I was unable to replace it or continue competing. Without giving up, I tried to find another goal in the equestrian environment.
I graduated in Psychology with a specialization in Behavioural Analysis. I started training some students and their horses at national level. I was invited to train Paralympic rider Jaana Kivimaki and we had great success internationally. Currently, in addition to training my pupils, I am a National Commissioner of Show Jumping, I work with international competitions organising events and exporting top quality dressage horses from Spain and Portugal to the whole world. I have recently created a partnership with Patricia Passos in Portugal.
My biggest dream, passion and goal is to have a horse to compete at the Olympics.
I will never give up on my dream!
