Where is the Global Encounters Festival taking place?
The Global Encounters Festival will take in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Can I participate in Arts and Sports?
At Team Portugal events, you can participate in both Arts and Sports. If you qualify for the international festival, you can only represent your jurisdiction in EITHER Sports or Arts.
Can participants represent more than one jurisdiction?
An artist or athlete may only represent ONE National Council Jurisdiction in which they reside at the time of the first qualifying round or have resided in up to 6 months prior to the first qualifying round.
Who can participate in Team Portugal events?
Ismailis, their partners and their children of other faiths are eligible to participate.
Which Sports are available?
Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, eFifa, eChess, Football, Golf, Pickleball, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Throwball, Track & Field, Volleyball International, Volleyball Tradditional, and Wrestling.
What are the Sports competition categories?
The competition categories are: junior, youth and open. There are men, women and mixed categories also.
Can an Athlete participate in multiple Sports?
At Team Portugal events, you can participate in as many sports as you like. If you qualify for the international festival, you can only represent your jurisdiction in ONE sport and its subcategories. For example, Tennis: Singles and Doubles or Mixed-Doubles.
Is there a minimum age criteria for Sports?
The Sports entry age requirement is 14 years old. Athletes should be born before 31 May 2010 to be eligible.
Eligibility will be determined based on the athlete's date of birth for the following categories:
- Junior - Born between 1 June 2008 - 31 May 2010
- Youth - Born between 1 June 2006 - 31 May 2008
- Open - 18+ - Born Before 31 May 2006
