Syrian refugee children and Bait-ul-Ilm students joined together to create friendships, connections and memories through art at the Ismaili Centre, Burnaby.

The children participated in a workshop led by Children of Art, a local non-profit whose mission is to help bring art into children’s lives through programs for refugee centres, children's hospitals, mental health facilities, community centres, and schools.

The workshop aimed to allow children a safe, inclusive and fun environment to explore artistic expression through a group project, and individual artwork.  Trained artists assisted the children in using mixed media materials to create their artworks.

New friendships were created as the participants learned about each other’s cultures and collaborated to create a beautiful art college.

The event was planned through a partnership between Children of Art, MOSAIC, and the Ismaili Council for BC.
