The final event of a three-part conversation series featured a discussion with Osgoode Hall law school professor, Benjamin Berger and centered on the theme of “Faith and the Law”.
Hosted by Dr. Amyn Sajoo, the discussions were framed around the community, ethics, religion and how each interplay within the field of law. Professor Berger, an accomplished lawyer, author and academic with a keen interest in religion and faith-based concepts, discussed the many facets of law and its role in the development of societies.
The duo exchanged ideas on a number of aspects of the intersection of faith, religion and the law and how law frames religion and conversely, how religion frames law. Professor Berger, emphasized the importance of law and education in answering pivotal questions in contemporary society. Attendees asked many questions following the conversation, which proved to be engaging and led to deeper dialogue. The 2018 Ismaili Centre Conversation series was a three-part series of curated discussions led by Dr. Amyn Sajoo on topics ranging from citizenship, identity and religion. Additional conversations are planned for 2019.
