The Urban Land Institute (ULI), a non-profit organization representing the real estate land development industry provides education and advocacy with the objective of building better, more inclusive, and more sustainable urban communities.

ULI Toronto’s annual symposium is attended by approximately 500 attendees including architects, urban planners, financial analysts, public sector and non-profit employees and service providers who support real estate land development.  The symposium aims to investigate the contemporary tensions of city building and discuss innovative approaches to building a resilient, inclusive and prosperous modern metropolis. As part of this year’s symposium, interested attendees had the opportunity to tour various spaces within Toronto based on particular themes.  

Under the theme, “Diversity in the City”, Ontario council President Sheherazade Hirji and several the Ismaili Centre, Toronto tour guides welcomed ULI attendees for a tour and session about the interior design of the Centre led by Arriz Hassam (one of the designers of the Centre who is also currently working on the Aga Khan Garden pavilion). Attendees were fascinated by the motifs and architecture of the Centre. The group then enjoyed a walk through the Aga Khan Park followed by lunch at the Aga Khan Museum.
