  • UAE youth engage in a robotics competition using LEGO, as part of the i-Robotics programme at the Ismaili Centre Dubai. Participants had eight weeks to prepare and develop an understanding of robotics.

    UAE youth engage in a robotics competition using LEGO, as part of the i-Robotics programme at the Ismaili Centre Dubai. Participants had eight weeks to prepare and develop an understanding of robotics.

For the first time, Ismaili youth from a range of schools and backgrounds gathered at the Ismaili Centre Dubai in March 2018 to participate in i-Robotics, an event held to prepare participants to enter the First LEGO League. Such i-Robotics events are attended by over 100 schools with over 1000 participants around the world.

The aim was to programme robots to score points on a themed playing field. Dividing into two teams, participants had 8 weeks to prepare and develop an understanding of robotics. Enthusiastic volunteers spent their weekends supervising the team and facilitating the games and developing their collaborative, team building and time management skills.

The teams also had fun playing and building friendships, aided by the invaluable support of the parents, with whom they shared their experiences.
