Despite not coming from a family of architects, Nuru’s captivation with the form was “too strong to resist;” he has also been inspired by the Aga Khan Award for Architecture and “the core values that it stands for,” explains Nuru. He also feels that “it is critical that we commit ourselves to larger social and humanitarian goals, and architecture has the power to do just that.” In Nuru’s mind, Jubilee Arts “could potentially transform into a global centre for artistic engagement and dialogue, potentially creating a society that is innovative, inclusive and pluralistic.”
