Purpose: To understand what poverty is and who it affects.
Your mission:
• Find the definition of poverty (You can use Google and YouTube clips)
•  Now that you know what poverty is, how can we get rid of it? Visit the AKDN website and get inspired (make sure to take some notes)!
•  Time to get creative! Create a poster about all the things you’ve learnt and add a couple of your OWN ideas.

Finally SHARE what your poster with family and friends and teach those around you!

Things to think about:
1. What did you learn about poverty and poverty alleviation?
2. What types of projects does the AKDN engage in to help poverty alleviation?
3. How can you get involved to support others and help?
4. Read the Qur’anic Ayat below and discuss with your family what it means to you and how it relates poverty alleviation.

The likeness of those who spend their wealth in Allah’s way is as the likeness of a grain which grows seven ears, in every ear a hundred grains; and Allah multiplies (bounties) for whomever He wishes.

Bonus activity: Based on last month’s activity, make a commitment to volunteer with an organization working to alleviate poverty for the remainder of the Diamond Jubilee year. Consider volunteering for the World Partnership Walk. This event is held annually in 10 cities across the country. You can even register and fundraise, donate or start a team.
