Full Story:
Autodesk Revit is a building information modeling software for architects, engineers, and contractors. It enables users to design a building and its components in 3D, annotate the model with 2D drafting elements and access building information from the building model’s database. Revit is equipped with tools to plan and track various stages in a building's lifecycle, from concept to construction and later demolition. In addition to generating instant 3D results of the data provided to the software, it has the ability to coordinate with different disciplines such as architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical and construction. This software is undoubtedly the future software in the construction industry and is used successfully in the industrialized world.
In order for the architects and technicians working at AKU’s Design Office to attain good knowledge of this software, Shaheen Maredia, a TKN volunteer was invited to Pakistan to deliver a training program for three weeks. Shaheen completed his Master of Science in Construction Management from New York University and a Bachelors of Science, Technology Management/Business Administration from Texas A&M University in the US. He also has experience in building information modeling using the Revit Architecture platform.
In addition to Design Office staff, participants from other areas such as structural, mechanical, electrical and construction also participated in the training program. During his assignment with AKU, Shaheen taught Revit in a contemporary manner. He encouraged each participant to try and use the commands on their own by offering a free trial version of the software. Through this training methodology, Shaheen was able to convey all the learning information required to use the software effectively.
Shaheen continues to provide online support to the participants whenever required. His excellent efforts and generosity in contributing his time and knowledge have been immensely helpful in strengthening the skills of the AKU Design Office.
