The Ismaili Centre, Toronto was opened by Prime Minister Stephen Harper on 12 September 2014 in the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam. Guests included Prince Amyn, Prince Rahim, Princess Salwa and Prince Hussain, as well as dignitaries and institutional leaders, all of whom had gathered to witness the historic moment.
Designed by Indian architect Charles Correa, the Ismaili Centre is situated within a 6.8-hectare park designed by Lebanese landscape architect Vladimir Djurovic, which it shares with the Aga Khan Museum designed by Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki. The Ismaili Centre and the Aga Khan Museum were opened on the same day in separate ceremonies.
