Those registered, aged 18+, will be able to try to qualify for any of the following disciplines: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, long jump and triple jump.

Those registered, under 16 and under 18, will be able to try to qualify for any of the following disciplines: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, long jump and triple jump.

Warm up can be done 30 minutes before each trial.

The track & field trials will be controlled and monitored by judges who will be on the track. They will have access to an automatic timing system and in case of doubt, “photo finish” will be used. Final results will be released as they become available. Any entrant who does not comply with the rules of the discipline in question may be disqualified. If the result is considered invalid it will not be considered for qualification.

Those registered who finish first in each discipline will be conditionally qualified. The remaining will be registered as substitutes.

If a better time or jump set in an official event is delivered to the T&F coordinator 3 months before JG2024, the athlete with the best time in the specific discipline will automatically qualify to participate for the

Portuguese Jurisdiction in Dubai. There may be situations in which substitutes replace those who were conditionally qualified. This will guarantee that only the best represent the Portuguese Jurisdiction. This condition is only valid for those registered until September 30, 2023.

Despite being able to participate in all disciplines, those registered will only be chosen for a maximum of three of them.

The top 5 entries in the 100 and 400 will automatically qualify for the men's and women's relay teams. If there is a need for a recap, those registered in the remaining disciplines may be selected.
