Luanda was the province that recorded the greatest variation in prices with 2.18%, followed by Namibe and Cunene with 1.38 and 1.36%, respectively. The "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" class continues to be the one that most contributes to the increase in the general price level, registering an increase of 1.11 percentage points during the month of July.

Year-on-year inflation in Angola accelerated by 0.79 percentage points to 12.12% in July this year compared to May, according to the National Consumer Price Index (IPCN), released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), released this Tuesday.

The 12% inflation level is already within the expected range until the end of last year, since the National Bank of Angola (BNA) has already revised upwards the inflation target for 2023 in a range between 12 and 14%.

Monthly inflation also accelerated by 1.60% percentage points to 0.95% in July, registering the highest rate in the last 17 months.

Luanda was the province that recorded the greatest variation in prices with 2.18%, followed by Namibe and Cunene with 1.38 and 1.36%, respectively. Lunda-Sul (0.95%), Cabinda (0.97%) and Cuando Cubango (1.01%) were the provinces that recorded the lowest change in prices in the period under review.

The "Health" class registered the highest price increase, with a variation of 2.05%. Also noteworthy are the increases in prices verified in the classes of "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" with 1.91%, "Miscellaneous goods and services" with 1.86% and "Clothing and Footwear" with 1.69%.

Even so, the "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" class continues to be the one that most contributed to the increase in the general price level, registering an increase of 1.11 percentage points during the month of July.
