Guests from the Business and Diplomatic communities joined with leadership and members of the Ismaili Community for a dinner hosted by the Ismaili Centre, Dubai in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to commemorate “World Refugee Day". The theme for this years World Refugee Day is “Hope Away from Home”.
World Refugee day is a day designated by the United Nations to honour refugees around the globe. This year’s focus being on the power of inclusion and the development of solutions, highlighting the resilience of refugees, who have often lost everything yet retain the hope for a better future.
The event featured a panel discussion between Houssam Chahine, Head of the UNHCR’s Private Sector Partnerships in the MENA Region (since 2011) and with Leaders of the Ismaili Community in the United Arab Emirates, Soraya Sarif and Alida Bata.
