A farewell lunch in honour of His Excellency Jean-Philippe Linteau, the Consul General of Canada to the UAE, and his wife Tam, was hosted at the Ismaili Centre Dubai.
Other guests were the regional CEO of ICRC, and Consul Generals of South Africa, Pakistan, Germany, Japan, Romania, Italy, United Kingdom, Libya and Sri Lanka. Last minute apologies were received from Afghanistan and Uganda. Also present were Attache’s deputising for the Consul General of Zambia, India, Portugal and the United States. The CEO of the Fatima Bint Mohamed bin Zayed Initiative was present.
The Vice President of the Ismaili Council for the UAE, Khalil Muhammad's speech cited examples of the enduring partnership initiatives between the AKDN, the Ismaili Imamat, and the Government of Canada, and the impact these initiatives have had on the beneficiaries of these programmes. He also referred to the permanent institutions established in Canada like the Aga Khan Museum, Global Centre for Pluralism and the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat.
The Vice President also thanked the Consul General for his collaboration with the Ismaili Centre, and facilitating visits of Ministers, and the former Prime Minster of Canada to the Centre.
The Consul General in turn thanked Vice President, Mrs. Farzana Muhammad and the Ismaili Centre for being an enabling partner during his term of office.
