At his own request, the Ambassador of Portugal to the UAE, Fernando Figueirinhas, visited the Ismaili Centre, Dubai.
The visit reinforced the Centre’s deep and abiding relationships with the Embassy of Portugal as a highly respected and recognised community.
On arrival, the Ambassador was given a video presentation on the work and the impact of AKDN and events at the Ismaili Centre. The Ambassador expressed the hope of returning to the Centre regularly to learn more about the work of the AKDN. The Ambassador was deeply impressed by the visit and recalled his visit to the Ismaili Centre in Lisbon.
Before his departure, the Ambassador made the following comment in the guest book:
“It was an enormous honour to be invited to visit the Ismaili Community in Dubai and to be able to get the latest information on the fantastic work that has been done under the wise leadership of His Highness the Aga Khan all over the world in such a wide range including health, social welfare, education and housing. A real privilege. Thank you so much”
The Ismaili Centre, Dubai has agreed to remain in constant touch with the Ambassador and will partner with the Embassy, especially for cultural events and those with pluralism as a theme.
