Ismael Ali de Unzaga's “Realism”, away from any hyper-realistic temptation, has been and is an excuse to let the outside shine through and share with the viewer a visual poetics in which the structural grammar of the recognizable form, on which also it is experienced, it is wrapped with the mantle of a powerful, imaginative and luminous chromaticism that soon catches an audience that is seduced, in an irremediable way, by its beautiful chromatic inversions.
The urban world has been, throughout his career, the essential object of his pictorial concern, to which he has incorporated the human figure as an object of his creation, in moving portraits in which the essence of the human underlies deep gazes. His works, cities or people, are faithful reflections of his essential characters, observed through a powerful chromatic lens, indebted to Pop art, but always individualizing.
