The Ismaili Centre Vancouver was honoured to partner with the Institute for Canadian Citizenship to host a citizenship ceremony in the social hall. Members of the Canadian government, leaders from the Ismaili community, new citizens and their guests were in attendance.
The morning began with round table discussions that provided a unique opportunity for the new citizens to share their stories and to reflect on what it means to be Canadian. Each group was able to share sentiments with the larger audience in an effort to show connection and unity.
After the discussion, the citizenship ceremony began. It included speeches, the Oath of Citizenship, the handing out and signing of citizenship certificates, and performance of O Canada.
Following the ceremony, the Ismaili Centre Vancouver hosted a reception where new citizens and their guests were able to celebrate this momentous occasion.
