The Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) in London, UK, seeks to recruit a Digital Education Officer to work in the Department of Curriculum Studies. The officer will work on a phased project, beginning with the conversion of existing curriculum materials into ebooks, incorporating in the next phase relevant links, multimedia resources and interactive pedagogy in the ebooks, and progressing towards the development of a Virtual Learning Environment on the Moodle platform, intended for use by teachers, students and parents.
The curriculum materials produced by the IIS for the primary and secondary age-groups are based on the study of Islam and the Shia Ismaili tradition, approached from civilisational, humanistic and normative perspectives.
The Digital Education Officer will have postgraduate qualifications in Islamic Studies, Humanities and/or Education, be familiar with the Institute’s primary and secondary curricula, and have engaged in the development of digital media or designed online courses for educational purposes. A level of acquaintance is required with Ismaili religious education programmes and the national contexts in which they are implemented. The ability to apply educational approaches and pedagogical strategies to the use of digital technology in instructional contexts is essential.
The Digital Education Officer will be expected to be conversant with developments in the field of educational technology and its applications in learning environments, be skilled with digital authoring tools, have excellent content editing and writing skills, work well in a collaborative team environment, and be able to maintain the digital project on track through strategic planning, scheduling and budgeting. S/he will be expected to work closely with digital publishers and other service providers, drawing on relevant expertise for the successful completion of each phase of the digital project. Also of asset will be the ability to train teachers, mentors and other educators in the use of digital media and technology.
This post is offered as a 3 year fixed term contract.
