His first stop was in Ottawa where he presided over the inaugural Global Pluralism Award and attended a meeting of the board of directors of the Global Centre for Pluralism. Thereafter, Hazar Imam travelled to Toronto where, over a span of four days, he met with the Jamat under the jurisdiction of the Council for Ontario. He concluded his visit in Montreal where he met with members of the Jamat residing in Ottawa, Quebec, and the Maritime provinces.
Upon his departure from Montreal on 22 November AKDN Resident Representative Dr Mahmoud Eboo, Ismaili Council for Canada President Malik Talib, and other Jamati leaders bade him farewell.
President Talib remarked that Mawlana Hazar Imam expressed his gratitude to the countless volunteers who, through their service, demonstrated the values and ethics of the faith — of generosity and unity — that are also representative of the Canadian spirit.
